How do you know you're forgiven?
Assurance

Questions 54 to 60 explain how God saves us, brings us to repentance, and grants forgiveness through Jesus Christ's sacrifice. Learn why Christ's atonement is sufficient for the whole world and why justification gives pardon for sin. The session explains the 2026 Articles of Faith's teaching that repentance continues throughout Christian life as believers grow in holiness. Romans 8 and John Wesley's teaching introduce assurance: the Spirit's witness that we are children of God. Wesley's Aldersgate experience illustrates his trust in Christ for salvation. These answers connect forgiveness, present freedom from sin, and the Christian's confidence in God's grace.
